Chemistry 2: Chemical Reactions
Unit Abstract
In chem 2, students will learn how the periodic table works, how molecules are formed via the three basic bonding types; ionic, covalent and metallic. With this knowledge, students will learn that atoms are neither created or destroyed in a chemical reaction. Armed with this knowledge, students will learn the basics of how to balance chemical equations.
Students will also be able to identify endothermic and exothermic chemical reactions by the direction of heat relative to the reaction. Finally, students will learn 5 different ways to either speed up or slow down a chemical reaction.
